A post-mortem examination on the body of slain gospel singer Rachel Wandeto has revealed that she died from complications arising from severe burns that covered 85 per cent of her body, even as one suspect linked to the killing was on Thursday arraigned at the Makadara Law Courts.
Government pathologist Johansen Oduor, who examined the body on Friday, said the extensive burns caused fatal complications after severely damaging the skin, the body’s largest organ responsible for regulating fluids, proteins and electrolytes.
“There were significant burns all over the body and 85 per cent of the surface area of the skin was burned, which led to complications. The skin is the largest organ in the body and it contains electrolytes, water and proteins that aid the body. Once you get such a type of burns then the complications also come in,” Dr Oduor said.
