Over 2.34 lakh candidates have registered themselves at the portal for admission to various engineering courses as part of the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026.There has been a steady stream of registrations at the portals since applications were opened on May 3. As on Friday, 2,34,229 candidates have registered their applications on the portal. Among them, 1,60,806 have completed payment of the processing fees, while 1,19,141 have completed uploading their certificates to the portal.Candidates will have to complete their online registration and payment process by June 2 and will be allowed to upload their certificates to the portal till June 6. On June 5, registered candidates will be assigned random numbers as part of the process. Between June 8 and 20, TNEA officials will verify the uploaded certificates, and a rank list will be published on June 29.While counselling dates have not been announced officially, TNEA officials said the process could begin by the second week of July, soon after the Class XII results for all the boards have been released. Initially, counselling for special category students — persons with disabilities, ex-servicemen, and sportspersons — will be held, they added.The first phase of certificate verification for students who applied under eminent sportspersons category will be held between June 1 and 9 at the Vivekananda Auditorium, Anna University, Guindy. Students will have to have to appear in person with the original sports certificates and their photocopies as per the schedule communicated to them. Officials of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) will verify the sports certificates. The detailed schedule is available on www.tneaonline.org.
