He shared his honest verdict of the County Durham eatery, and he had plenty to say about the food that was served up.Posting under the username Fish and Chips Catering on TikTok, the man had some pretty strong opinions about his chippy experience. In the clip, he described it as like "going back in time to the 1900s" owing to the restaurant's style, and he appeared genuinely impressed when his meal arrived. It's not the only recent occasion someone has spoken out about quality fish and chips. Previously, other people were raving about a fish and chip shop that they keep running back to because it's so good.In the video, he asked: "Is this the most authentic fish and chips shop in the UK? We recently visited the Beamish Living Museum near Newcastle to find out if the legendary Middleton's is worth the hype."Step inside and you're stepping back into the 1900s. Authentic-looking period fryers and everything is cooked in traditional beef dripping."The queue outside looked massive, but it moved fast, and we were in in about 15 minutes. The menu is beautifully simple. Small fish and chips for under a tenner, and served in traditional, newspaper-style wrapping, which was a really nice touch."I got the fish and chips and Charlotte got a battered sausage, and you know we had to cover them in salt and vinegar."Content cannot be displayed without consentHe described the fish batter as "golden" and "crisp", while the chips were "epic" with a "solid crunch". He rated the fish a solid 9/10, despite feeling it "could have been bigger".That said, the batter was something to shout about. He heaped praise on the chippy in his review, insisting it was well worth the trip, describing the food as "unreal".Not everyone was convinced by the cost, however. Some viewers felt the pricing was a touch steep, given that a small fish and chips is listed at £9.10 on the website — and that got tongues wagging. One said: "£9.10 for half a slice of fish. Get a grip." Another added: "That is small for the price." A third also wrote: "Two fish bits and four chips. Madness."Others, though, appeared eager to give it a go, with one commenting: "That looks like a fantastic restaurant."
