MOSCOW, May 22. /TASS/. The Ukrainian army lost over two companies of troops in battles for the community of Verkhnyaya Tersa in the Zaporozhye Region, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Friday.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported earlier on May 22 that its Battlegroup East forces had liberated the settlement of Verkhnyaya Tersa "through active offensive operations."

Verkhnyaya Tersa was liberated by units of the 155th Regiment of the 55th Marine Corps Division and the 394th Motorized Infantry Regiment of the 5th Combined Arms Army of the Battlegroup East, it specified.

"The community was an important logistics support and defensive area of Ukrainian armed formations in that frontline sector. The battlegroup gained control of 12.5 sq. km of territory. The enemy lost over two companies of personnel from a separate assault battalion of the Ukrainian army. Also, six armored combat vehicles, 17 pickup trucks, 15 all-terrain vehicles, over 30 ground robotic vehicles and more than 60 heavy R-18 hexacopters were destroyed," the ministry reported.
