IN BRIEF: Russia’s Maritime Board chair comments on global contradictions, naval arms race

MOSCOW, May 22. /TASS/. Global contradictions are leading more and more to military conflict, Russian Presidential Aide and Maritime Board Chairman Nikolay Patrushev said at Russian-Vietnamese consultations on maritime cooperation in Moscow on Friday.

Patrushev believes that a global naval arms race has begun.

- Global contradictions are increasingly manifesting in military action, while divisions within NATO continue, Nikolay Patrushev said.

- He said a global naval arms race has begun and the importance of maritime power will continue growing during the reshaping of the world order: "In our assessment, the reshaping of the global order will increase the importance of maritime power. All signs point to a global naval arms race already being underway."
