Andy Buchanan / AFP via Getty ImagesMay 22, 2026 Updated 6:34 am EDTEngland head coach Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha, Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott and Fulham’s Josh King will travel with the World Cup squad as training players.Tuchel said there will be a fourth player, but did not name him as his inclusion is yet to be finalised.Ngumoha, 17, has been capped up to under-19s level for England and has enjoyed a breakout few months at club level, featuring in all but one of Liverpool’s Premier League games since the start of February.The inclusion of the youngsters comes with Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Noni Madueke set to join up late with the squad, given their exploits in the Champions League final on Saturday, May 30. Arsenal have planned a Premier League title parade the following day, while the day after that is when the England squad are due to fly to the United States for the start of their World Cup preparations.
Ngumoha has contributed three first-team goals in 28 appearances this term and has started Liverpool’s last two matches.Scott earned his first senior England call-up in November but did not feature and was not included in Tuchel’s March squad.Scott has impressed on the south-coast this season (Justin Setterfield/Getty Images)The 22-year-old has been a mainstay for Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth this season, playing in all of their 37 league matches so far, starting in 34 of those.King, 19, has also been a regular at club level, featuring in 31 of Fulham’s league fixtures this term, contributing one goal and two assists.England had already confirmed that Brighton & Hove Albion’s Jason Steele, 35, will also travel with the squad as a training goalkeeper.
