MK Party is calling for Deputy Minister Steve Letsike to resign from the South African Pharmacy Council, citing concerns over governance, ethics and perceived conflicts of interest in public administration.
The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has called for the immediate resignation of Deputy Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Steve Letsike, from his position as Vice President of the South African Pharmacy Council, citing concerns over governance, ethics and the independence of statutory regulators.
MK Party Member of Parliament Patrick Motubatse said the party believes Letsike’s dual roles in government and in a regulatory body create both actual and perceived conflicts of interest that undermine public confidence in regulatory institutions.
Motubatse said the matter had already been raised directly with Letsike during a meeting, where the party reportedly demanded his resignation.
''Just to indicate that yesterday in a meeting where he was present, we raised this particular matter with him directly, and we did request him to resign,” Motubatse said.
