Friday, 22 May 2026 2:30 PM MYT PAPAR, May 22 — A 72-year-old woman died after a two-storey semi-permanent house caught fire at Kampung Seri Tanjung, Pengalat Kecil, here, this morning.According to a Sabah Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson, a team of seven personnel led by Senior Fire Officer Dahlan Jainudin rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 6.29am and arrived at 6.35am at the location, about 4km from the fire station.Upon arrival, he said the team immediately carried out operations to control the situation despite the flames having engulfed 90 per cent of the structure.He said the team later found the unconscious elderly woman in the bathroom area at 7.57am and she was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel, believed to have died from breathing difficulties during the fire. — Daily Express
