Although I am partial to a good dash of bronzer year-round, my usage certainly ramps up as we approach the warmer months. There’s something endlessly appealing about sun-kissed skin – albeit a faux glow obtained from a delightful make-up or body product. Some excellent bronzing products have hit the market in recent months that will please fans of cream, liquid and powder formulas alike. They span a wide range of price points, too.First is Westman Atelier Sun Tone Bronzing Crème (€80 from Space NK). Very new and very beautiful, this duo palette is one I’ve been reaching for six days out of seven lately. Two cream formulas, one slightly darker than the other, allow for a customised, dimensional bronzed glow on the face, eyes, neck, chest and so on. The undertone is cool, burnished and flattering – no dreaded orange hue in sight. A light-handed application is key, as it’s very creamy and pigmented. My preference is to use it with a dense buffing brush and gently buff upwards from the cheekbones into the temple, hairline, and so on. It comes in four different colourways. Next is Victoria Beckham Beauty Colour Wash Bronze Water Tint (€51 from Brown Thomas). As we’ve come to expect from the brand, the packaging and formulation are luxurious. It feels like a special product to use, while delivering a beautiful bronze flush of colour. This is more of a wash over the skin and can be tapped in with fingers or a brush. Only a small amount is required, as a little blends a very long way.Westman Atelier Sun Tone Bronzing Cream; Victoria Beckham Beauty Colour Wash Bronze Water Tint; Sculpted by Aimee Cream Luxe Bronzer; Poco Beauty Solar Glow ; and Sol de Janeiro Rio Sunset GlowMotions Glow Body Oil Sculpted by Aimee has recently reformulated and relaunched its bestselling Cream Luxe collection of blush (€22 from Sculpted by Aimee), highlight and bronzer. The new formulation is as good as before, if not better. I found the previous iteration would dry up if not used regularly – the new version does not appear to do this. I particularly love the bronzer. Five comprehensive shades, ranging from Fair to Deep, cover all skin tones, and the creamy formula gives a beautiful, radiant finish without veering into greasy territory. Again, the cream formula allows for quick application with fingers or a brush. When it comes to the body, two products deliver. Poco Beauty Universal Solar Glow (€55 from Poco Beauty) is a beautiful, creamy bronzing tint that warms up the skin and delivers a healthy flush of natural colour. It’s also excellent when used over existing fake tan for a little extra polish and glow. For something more luminous, more high-voltage, I am a long-time fan of Sol de Janeiro Rio Sunset GlowMotions Glow Body Oil (€35 from Boots). This delivers a next-level sheen to the skin that’s rather head-turning. It can be used anywhere on the body, but is particularly stunning when applied to the collarbones, chest, shoulders and so on. The best approach is to start with a thin amount and spread evenly – going in with too much too soon can end up in a bit of a greasy mess. This week I’m loving ... Skingredients Hydra-Hit Instant Facial MaskSkingredients Hydra-Hit Instant Facial Mask (€9 from skingredients.com) The pick-me-up post-winter skin desperately needs. Skingredients Hydra-Hit Instant Facial Mask (€9 from skingredients.com) is saturated with a 20ml dose of hydrating ingredients, including glycerine, vitamins B3 and B5, and a seaweed complex, which leaves your skin feeling instantly soothed, plumped, and more radiant. When I use it, my neck, chest, and forearms get the hydration treatment too, so generous is the amount of serum included. An affordable addition to your skincare routine for summer.
