Vice President Kashim Shettima has cautioned that while significant progress has been recorded in the fight against insurgency, such gains must not be mistaken for final victory.

Shettima, who was represented by the Special Adviser on General Duties, Dr Aliyu Modibbo, made the remark on Thursday during the unveiling of a two-volume book titled ‘Counterterrorism and Counterinsurgency Operations in North East Nigeria’, authored by Maj Gen Ibrahim Yusuf (retd.).

He said Nigeria’s security challenges in recent years should be viewed not as evidence of a weakened nation, but as a test of the resilience and determination of its people.

“What Nigeria has endured in recent years is not evidence of a nation overwhelmed by danger, but rather a reflection of the resilience and courage of Nigerians who continue to stand firm in defence of a shared destiny.
