The landmark 50th season of “Survivor” wrapped up with a live finale on Wednesday night that reached 5.8 million viewers.
Measured by Nielsen, that total marks the most-watched “Survivor” finale since Season 40, subtitled “Winners at War,” concluded with 7.6 million viewers in May 2020. Beginning with Season 41, “Survivor” launched its “new era” — explored at length in Variety‘s recent cover story about the series — meaning that “Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans” achieved the top finale of the new era.
Titled “Reverse the Curse,” Wednesday’s episode was up 32% in viewership from with the Season 49 finale in December and up 35% from the Season 48 finale in May 2025. Compared with earlier episodes of Season 50, the finale was up 20% from the week before and up 17% from the season average of 4.9 million viewers.
The above statistics refer to same-day viewership of “Survivor.” When accounting for 35 days of delayed viewing on streaming, Season 50 is averaging 9.8 million viewers, a 26% improvement on the 35-day viewership of Season 40 and tying “Dancing With the Stars” to become the most-watched reality series of the 2025-2026 broadcast season.
The end of Season 50 came with a return to tradition for “Survivor,” which brought back its live in-studio finale in Los Angeles for the first time since Season 40. During the buzzy night, contestant and “The White Lotus” creator Mike White announced which contestants he’d chosen to make cameos in Season 4 of his HBO show, and host Jeff Probst announced the theme for the upcoming 51st season of “Survivor.”
