The development was confirmed on Thursday in Abuja by the party’s factional National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman, who said copies of the petitions had also been sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Labour Party (LP) has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) over what it described as the illegal circulation and sale of nomination forms allegedly being distributed by the party’s former National Chairman, Julius Abure.
The development was confirmed on Thursday in Abuja by the party’s factional National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman, who said copies of the petitions had also been sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Usman accused Abure of acting outside the party’s recognised leadership structure, insisting that his tenure had long expired and that a national convention held in Umuahia had produced the authentic leadership currently recognised by INEC.
According to her, the continued circulation of nomination forms by Abure amounts to impersonation and deception of unsuspecting aspirants.
