More than a dozen military spouses are getting a cut of roughly $260,000 to use towards their higher education aspirations. The 16 recipients will receive the funding through National University's annual Whisper Military Spouse Scholarships, for use towards undergraduate and graduate degrees. National University (NU), a veteran-founded nonprofit, established the Whisper Military Spouse Scholarship in 2022 and has since distributed $835,000 in scholarship support to 96 recipients. This year's amount sets a new benchmark, exceeding the $150,000 awarded in 2025 to 15 military spouses. Scholarships are named in honor of Whisper Snyder to recognize the experiences, resilience and educational goals of military spouses through meaningful financial support. Meg O'Grady, senior vice president for military and veteran affairs at NU, told Military.com that Snyder was an NU alum and former military spouse. She was "a great advocate" who was able to work her way through achieving bachelor's and master's degrees.
