Footage shared by Fire and Rescue Thailand shows crews tackling huge flames inside the building.It is unclear how many people have not been able to escape the fire, but emergency services said there are a lot of tourists who have been evacuated. Authorities also said there are several victims of smoke inhalation.The fire service says: "There were many people trapped in the building. Firefighters were on the way to rescue. Firefighters are trying to put the fire under control. A lot of tourists are being evacuated from the hotel building. It said: "Around the rooftop area. Firefighters can partially control the fire. #Latest. Flames are already in the rooms."Many people have taken to social media to express their hope that nobody has been seriously injured in the fire while also thanking the emergency service crews. One person wrote on Facebook: "I wish all firefighters and all involved that they can do their job and return home to their families safely."Content cannot be displayed without consentAnother wrote: "I hope everyone is safe and all the crews have my thoughts." There were a lot of similar messages while others enquired about the state of the fire.One message asked if everyone had managed to escape while a person commented on how the "wind is very strong" today in Pattaya which may have fanned the flames. A further comment asked: "How did the fire start? I hope everyone is safe."Pattaya is in the Chonburi coastal region of eastern Thailand and is known as a major tourist hub.
