The pop superstar, 57, revealed that when she was undergoing treatment for breast cancer in 2005, she also went through "numerous" rounds of IVF in the hopes of becoming a mother.In an emotional moment from the new Netflix documentary Kylie, which charts the singer's rise from starring as Charlene Mitchell in Neighbours to becoming the highest-selling female Australian artist of all time, she became emotional as she recalled that time and admitted it would have been "just shy of a miracle" if she had been able to have a baby .She said :"If it had happened, it would have been just shy of a miracle but it didn't work out that way. Can you feel me as I breathe life into you? Wrapped in a blanket of hope, asleep in a bed of dreams, my step into eternity is not what it might have been, or not at all, for who knows which way the wind is going to blow."Her words later formed the lyrics of her track Flower, which was released on her 2012 album The Abbey Road Sessions, and Kylie admitted that she still thinks about what it would have been like for her to become a mother.She said: "One can't help but wonder what it would have been like and I am so close to my family, it just wasn't my path so that was what I was writing about. Even if you didn't come to be, your somewhere, we all become something even if it's ash and we become something else. So I was kind of hopeful and realistic and the same time."The Spinning Around legend candidly admitted that she tried a few times "with such a thread of hope" and thought she "couldn't not try" to become a mother. She added: "'I was 36 when I got my diagnoses so already it's – you need to be thinking about children. So I did try, I even postponed my chemotherapy to try, which was quite scary at the time because you just want it out, gone."Meanwhile, Kylie's sister Dannii, 54, is mother to 15-year-old Ethan but admitted: "I never saw myself being a parent and she [Kylie] always did and that is just heartbreaking."Elsewhere in the documentary, Kylie revealed that she secretly battled breast cancer for a second time in 2021 but has chosen only now to tell the world.Asked afterwards why now seemed like the right time to speak out, the singer says it felt “important” to be truthful. She said: "Thankfully I got through it again and all is well. “Making this documentary has meant looking back at so many pivotal moments in my life and this was another one.
