An audio conversation allegedly involving Twisha Sharma’s mother-in-law, retired judge Giri Bala Singh, and Twisha’s brother, Major Harshit Sharma, has surfaced online, revealing a tense exchange between the two.In the alleged recording, Giri Bala Singh is heard defending questions asked about Twisha’s personal life, future conduct in marriage, and past relationships. “Promiscuity can be a habit,” the retired judge allegedly says while justifying inquiries into Twisha’s past, including whether she had “been with other men.”In another portion of the audio, she is also heard referring to her time working in Reshampura in Gwalior, stating that she had “worked with prostitutes”, and adding, “Some people sell their bodies and then they climb social ladder".Allegations of Verbal AbuseThe audio clip further suggests that Twisha had allegedly complained about verbal abuse by her husband, Samarth Singh, including being called derogatory terms such as “prostitute”.The conversation also appears to reveal suspicions within the family regarding Twisha’s relationships before marriage. In the recording, Giri Bala Singh is allegedly heard saying that Twisha had admitted to “being with other people also” before marriage.Brother Questions the Alleged RemarksAt one point in the audio, Major Harshit Sharma is heard confronting Giri Bala Singh over what he describes as humiliating and emotionally distressing questioning directed at his sister.“How is this a logical to ask your own bahu (daughter-in-law)?” he asks, expressing disbelief that a mother-in-law would question Twisha’s character and loyalty.In response, Giri Bala Singh allegedly replies, “This is my right to ask my daughter-in-law,” and further states that “any promiscuous behaviour after marriage will not be tolerated”.Police Search for Samarth SinghSeparately, the Bhopal Police Commissioner has announced a reward of Rs 30,000 for information leading to the arrest of Twisha’s husband and main accused, Samarth Singh, who is wanted in connection with a dowry-related and other criminal case.According to a proclamation issued by Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar, the accused has been booked under sections 80(2), 85 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with sections 3/4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act. The case has been registered at Katara Hills police station.Police officials said six teams are currently searching for Samarth Singh, while efforts are also underway to issue a Look Out Circular (LOC) in the matter.Background of the CaseTwisha Sharma, a resident of Noida, married Samarth Singh of Bhopal in December 2025. Her family has alleged mental harassment and dowry-related abuse by her in-laws.Police have registered a case in connection with the allegations and formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the matter further.[With TOI inputs]
