While an account attributed to the “Persian Gulf Management Authority” once again emphasized the “Islamic Republic’s control over the perimeter of the Strait of Hormuz,” CENTCOM announced that U.S. forces had detained an Iranian-flagged oil tanker in the Sea of Oman and forced it to alter its course.
The “Persian Gulf Management Authority” account on X published a map of the Strait of Hormuz, writing that the Islamic Republic had designated the “supervisory zone of the Strait of Hormuz management” from the connecting line of “Kuh-e Mobarak” in Iran to the south of Fujairah in the UAE, and from the tip of Qeshm Island to Umm Al Quwain.
Previously, Fars News Agency, which is close to the Revolutionary Guards, had reported the declaration of a “new control perimeter” by the IRGC Navy in this strategic waterway, coinciding with the launch of the “Freedom Project” aimed at guiding vessels stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.
Concurrently, CENTCOM released a video on its official X account announcing that U.S. Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit boarded the oil tanker MT Celestial Sea in the early hours of Wednesday. According to the military entity, the vessel was suspected of attempting to breach the U.S. naval blockade and sail toward an Iranian port.
