Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė said on Thursday that there is currently no direct threat to Lithuania after an air alert was issued in eastern Latvia.
"Our military, responsible services, and institutions are constantly monitoring the situation and maintaining close contact with allies. I ask everyone to remain calm, rely only on official information, and follow the instructions of responsible institutions. Should the situation change, the public will be informed immediately," Ruginienė posted on Facebook.The Latvian armed forces issued a warning about a potential airspace threat at approximately 10:45 local time, on Thursday, covering the eastern municipalities.In response to the potential threat, NATO Baltic Air Policing mission fighter jets were scrambled.On Wednesday, an air alert was declared due to a drone spotted near Lithuania's eastern border, which subsequently entered the country.
