Anthropic is paying SpaceX roughly $1.25 billion (£930m) per month under a deal to use the aerospace firm’s cloud capacity, in a deal worth $40bn through May 2029, the company said in paperwork for an initial public offering.

The filing says Anthropic is also expanding from the Colossus data centre in Tennessee to SpaceX’s Colossus 2, something Anthropic also disclosed in a public statement.

AI start-up Anthropic is paying a discounted rate for May and June as the deal ramps up and either party can terminate the deal with a notice of 90 days, the filing says.
