China's ambassador to the United Nations briefed the Security Council on Tuesday to voice concerns over the situation in the Middle East and called for joint efforts to restore stability in the region at an early date.

Fu Cong, China's permanent representative to the UN, made the remarks while commenting on a Sunday drone attack on facilities at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates. Although the incident did not cause any casualties or affect radiation safety levels, this "dangerous and irresponsible act" has sounded the alarm for the international community, he said.
