Sir, – Is anyone else tired of politicians having a go at RTÉ staff? They know they are on a winner, as RTÉ will just report it in the news to avoid accusations of bias, and of course, the opposition Virgin Media and Newstalk may not defend them. Does this merit more investigation than housing, homelessness, or hospital waiting lists? It’s a cheap shot, and should be called out for what it is.EOIN GANLY,Marino,Dublin 9.Sir, – I suggest the recent shock and horror expressed in regard to RTÉ salaries is only of prurient interest to their staff members who are annoyed at the lack of transparency.RTÉ does an excellent job in public service broadcasting, keeping its older listeners abreast of current affairs in this digital age. I wish the Government would get on with dealing with the real problems facing our country instead of harassing the chairperson and director-general of RTÉ in yet another tiresome public dressing down in which nobody is the slightest bit interested. – Yours, etc,NIALL PELLY SNR,Foxrock,Dublin 18.[ It’s hard to work up any outrage about yet another grubby payments controversy at RTÉOpens in new window ]
