It was the type of incident that might have blown the roof off of the Crusaders’ new indoor stadium had it occurred in front of their home fans.

An act the Crusaders clearly haven’t forgotten, and one that was always going to get dredged up ahead of Friday night’s rematch of last year’s Super Rugby final in Christchurch.

And most parties involved, including perpetrator Jared Proffit and victim David Havili, will be on deck in the first match between the Crusaders and Chiefs since things got heated in Hamilton in round three.

Referee James Doleman is also back, the bloke who left the Crusaders miffed after deeming Chiefs prop Proffit’s act of foul play off the ball - he lifted Crusaders captain Havili by a leg and dumped him on his head and back - only warranted a penalty.

“I just think we don’t want to stand for any of that. We back our mates up and we don’t stand for anything like that,” Havili said ahead of the Crusaders’ captain’s run on Thursday morning.
