President Donald Trump was in top form while delivering a freewheeling commencement address for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy’s class of 2026 on Wednesday.Taking the lectern on the grounds of the New London, Connecticut, military academy, the president didn’t hesitate to let several young cadets know how much he liked the cut of their jib.“Get up, I wanna see this guy,” he said, beckoning a young man named Matthew, who finished at the top of his class, to join him on stage.“I hate good-looking men,” the president playfully snarled after shaking the cadet’s hand, earning chuckles from the crowd.Introducing a cadet named Thomas who earned a “perfect score on every single fitness test” during all four years at the academy, Trump said, “This guy must be something.”Trump: I hate good looking men. We also have the only cadet who earned a perfect score on every single fitness test. I wanna check him out. Look at the muscles on this guy. pic.twitter.com/UwyQg5EuWo— Acyn (@Acyn) May 20, 2026“I wanna check him out,” he continued, giving a “woah!” when he saw him stand and stride towards the stage.“We’re not gonna fight with him, I’m not fighting him,” Trump riffed, as if anyone was expecting as much.“This is not UFC,” then cracked the president, who will host the mixed martial arts organization for a competition at the White House on June 14.President Donald Trump greets a cadet after delivering the commencement address to the United States Coast Guard Academy on Wednesday.KENT NISHIMURA via Getty ImagesNew ensigns toss their caps in celebration at the conclusion of commencement exercises.via Associated Press“Look at the muscles on this guy,” he marveled as Thomas made his way for a handshake. “Just hit him on the shoulder, hurt my hand. It’s like hitting a rock.”The president pulled back on the schmaltz just a bit while calling a female cadet named Savannah to the stage.“If I didn’t invite her up, they’d accuse me of discrimination,” he said, still remarking that she “looks so fantastic” once she did approach, according to The Daily Beast.Trump, who also delivered the academy’s commencement in 2017, didn’t miss an opportunity to puff himself up either, telling the crowd, “I’m gonna be here in ’28. Maybe I’ll be here in ’32 too. I don’t know. Maybe I will.”The NewsCan't Wait.Neither Can We.Your SupportFuelsOur MissionYour SupportFuelsOur MissionSupport HuffPostMisinformation spreads fast.
