Korea and the Netherlands have upgraded their memorandum of understanding (MOU) on bilateral agriculture cooperation for the first time in 13 years, the agriculture ministry said Thursday.

The revised MOU was signed between Agriculture Minister Song Mi-ryung and her Dutch counterpart, Silvio Erkens, during their meeting in Seoul, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

The ministry said the European nation is a global power in agriculture exports and technologies, noting that the ministers explored deeper cooperation in smart farming and artificial intelligence transformation of the farming industry.

They also agreed to strengthen cooperation in food security and sustainable farming, it added.
