A fire outbreak on Wednesday afternoon gutted parts of a residential building at the Oloje Housing Estate area of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, destroying sections of the property before firefighters successfully brought the situation under control.
The incident, which occurred at about 3:28 p.m. on May 20, 2026, affected a residential structure comprising about eight-bedroom flats located at Face Two, Oloje Housing Estate, Ilorin.
According to the Kwara State Fire Service, the fire severely affected the sitting room and dining section of the building, raising panic among residents and neighbours within the estate.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the spokesperson for the agency, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, the Fire Service disclosed that its operatives responded swiftly after receiving a distress call and prevented the inferno from escalating to other parts of the building and surrounding properties.
