I have always found gifting items to my dad for Father’s Day less of an arduous task than gifting for my mother.

While I am not 100% certain why this is, I’d like to believe this is because my father wears his interests on his sleeve, loud and proud, leaving little room to guess what he might want. Meanwhile, my mother is rather quiet about some of her interests, meaning I have to dig a bit deeper to find something that suits her. Fathers being easy gifting targets seems like the consensus across the board, something I found from speaking to friends and coworkers about their dads.

Me, my sister Sophia and my dad Otman. (Couldn’t find one with my brother…sorry, Gabriel!)

In no specific order, my father (or baba in Arabic), Otman, loves football (American soccer), Star Wars, space, oldies rock music, video games, printed ties and Pokémon. His interests haven’t changed much since immigrating to America from Morocco. He has three kids who gift him things every Father’s Day, which means I am always in competition with my siblings to see who can give him the best gift.
