The Ministry of Defence (MoD) reported that one Russian jet made six passes in front of the unarmed British reconnaissance aircraft during the incident. Defence Secretary John Healey condemned the event as 'dangerous and unacceptable behaviour' by Russian pilots in international airspace. Healey praised the RAF crew's professionalism and affirmed that the incident would not deter the UK's commitment to NATO and its allies.
