The Forest Department has invited public objections to the proposed felling of 137 trees for the construction of an industrial healthcare centre building within the premises of BEML Limited in Koorgalli village of Yelwal hobli in Mysuru taluk.According to a press release, BEML Limited has sought permission to remove trees blocking the proposed project in Survey Nos. 10, 17, 20, 28, 29, 35, 41, 184, 226, 14, 21, 30, 31, 32, 51, 163, 165, 168, 169, 219, 222 and 230/1.The proposal includes the removal of 47 teak trees, 13 acacia trees, 10 mahogany trees, 50 trees belonging to forest species, nine Felloform trees, six silver trees, one orchid tree and one honge tree, taking the total number of trees proposed for felling to 137.Under the provisions of the Karnataka Tree Preservation Act, members of the public may submit objections or grievances regarding the proposed tree felling before 5.30 p.m. on May 25.Objections may be sent to the office of the Tree Officer and Range Forest Officer, Mysuru Regional Division, Aranya Bhavan, Ashokapuram, Mysuru–570008, or emailed to rfomyspublichearing@gmail.com, the release stated.
