The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement on Wednesday, May 20, threatening the United States and Israel that the scope of the war would expand beyond the region should they launch another attack on Iran.
In the statement, the IRGC claimed that despite deploying “all of their capabilities,” the United States and Israel have failed to achieve their objectives, while the Islamic Republic has yet to fully bring its own capacities into the battlefield. The IRGC also warned that if the attacks are repeated, “crushing blows” would be delivered at locations that, according to the military entity, the opposing side “cannot even imagine.”
Without directly naming recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, the IRGC further declared: “We are men of war, and you will witness our power on the battlefield, not in hollow statements and virtual pages.”
These threats emerged after Donald Trump stated two days ago that he was on the verge of issuing an order for a massive assault on Iran, but postponed its execution for a few days at the request of the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
The newly released IRGC statement also referenced previous remarks by Ali Khamenei, the late Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic. Khamenei had previously warned that a “regional war” would break out in the event of a U.S. attack.
