The erroneous announcement was attributed to a 'computer error' that accidentally activated a pre-prepared 'Death of a Monarch procedure'. Following the announcement, the broadcast ceased for 15 minutes before hosts returned to issue an on-air apology for the confusion. Station manager Peter Moore later issued a formal apology on Facebook to His Majesty the King and listeners for any distress caused. King Charles is alive and well, having recently visited Belfast with Queen Camilla and resumed public engagements following treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.
