According to the embassy, US government employees have also been discouraged from making personal trips to western Uganda and are limiting non-essential visits to healthcare facilities across the East African country.
The United States has warned American citizens to reconsider travel plans to western Uganda following the worsening Ebola outbreak along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
In a health alert issued on Wednesday, the embassy in Uganda said the United States government had begun restricting official travel to western Uganda to only mission-critical trips because of the growing health risk.
The advisory followed the declaration by the World Health Organisation that the Ebola outbreak in Uganda and the DRC now constitutes a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.
