Greek television channel Skai has announced it is ending its reality show “Survivor,” with the final episode scheduled to air Wednesday, just over a week after a serious accident involving one of the contestants in the Dominican Republic.

Contestant Stavros suffered severe leg injuries while spearfishing when he was struck by a tourist boat. The channel initially suspended the show following the incident.

Skai said the player was transferred to the United States for treatment and remains under close medical supervision at a specialized medical center, accompanied by family members and production staff.

“Through joint discussions with the other players and in a particularly emotionally charged atmosphere, it was decided that the game could not continue after this specific incident,” the broadcaster said in a statement.

The station said it had decided to end the program permanently, “with absolute priority given to the human factor.”
