Walkers has launched a new crisps flavour, which has been spotted on shelves at Home Bargains stores, with shoppers calling them 'banging' and rushing to try them14:12, 20 May 2026Updated 14:12, 20 May 2026New crisp flavours are always a cause for excitement, and shoppers are already making a beeline for Home Bargains to get their hands on something a bit out of the ordinary. Ready salted, cheese and onion, and salt and vinegar may be the nation's tried-and-tested favourites, but with summer just around the corner and picnic season beckoning, now could be the perfect moment to broaden your horizons.‌That's precisely why bargain hunters are descending on Home Bargains, as this latest crisp variety looks set to be the must-have flavour of the summer. The newcomer hitting shelves is Walkers Max Portuguese Chorizo and Onion flavour, and shoppers have been quick to declare they "sound banging".‌"I tried these today," one man commented, alongside a thumbs-up Facebook profile picture, making his approval abundantly clear. Another wrote: "I'll definitely be giving these a go!" A third tagged a friend, saying: "We need to try these ASAP."‌Not everyone was won over, however — some took issue with the spelling, with one commenting: "Chorizo? It's Portuguese, not Spanish". Another fumed: "Wow. It's chouriço, not chorizo!"And they may have a point — while Portuguese chouriço shares its Iberian roots with its Spanish counterpart, it boasts a distinctly different flavour profile and method of preparation. Chouriço typically contains a rich combination of pork, garlic, wine, and piri-piri. It's a smoked and fully cooked sausage, which means it can be enjoyed straight from the packet or added to stews for extra flavour.Content cannot be displayed without consent‌One particularly popular way to serve it is chouriço à bombeiro, where the sausage is scored, doused in aguardiente (or another high-proof spirit), and dramatically flambéed at the table in a traditional clay dish. Spanish chorizo, by contrast, is generally cured and air-dried instead of smoked, and usually contains a more generous amount of smoked paprika.Either way, though, we're confident the new Walkers flavour tastes absolutely delicious, and is definitely worth sampling! It's not the only item generating excitement in supermarkets lately, either. Morrisons customers have been thrilled by a brand new Mr Kipling creation, too.‌The product listing on the Morrisons website describes the latest offering as follows: "Treat yourself to the joyful delight of Mr Kipling Birthday Cake Slices!"Enjoy light, fluffy sponge cake sandwiched with a delicious layer of plum and raspberry jam, topped with delicate fondant icing and colourful sprinkles for the perfect celebratory finishing touch."Each delicious Birthday Cake Slice is made with 100 per cent natural flavours, no hydrogenated fat, and no artificial colours, creating a great‐tasting cake slice that's perfect for everyday treats or special moments.Article continues below"These exceedingly good cakes bring a fun twist to a classic favourite." A pack of eight comes in at £3, and shoppers have been singing their praises in the comments section of New Foods UK.One shopper gushed: "Gosh, I need to try these," while another wrote: "We need these immediately," tagging a friend. Will you be giving the new Walkers flavour a go?
