If you are in the market for a desktop or bookshelf speaker and don't want to spend a whole lot more than $150, the Aiyima S4000 can be a great choice as it's currently just $152 (purchase link under the specs table down below). For anyone not familiar, Aimiya is one of the many "Chi-Fi" brands out there.

The S4000 is positioned as a compact active monitor speaker system aimed at listeners who want versatile audio performance in a desktop or small-room setup. As such the speaker combines professional-style connectivity with a design focused on clear and detailed sound reproduction.

One of the useful features of the S4000 is its active speaker configuration which essentially means it includes a built-in amplifier in the form of Class D amplification, designed to provide stable and efficient output while reducing the need for an external amplifier.

The speakers feature a 4-inch mid-woofer driver paired with a 25mm (1 inch) horn-loaded silk dome tweeter, sort of mimicking the look of Klipsch's horn-loaded tweeter designs. Aimiya claims the woofer can go down to 45Hz, although it is not mentioned whether that's at -3dB or -6dB or even lower. Regardless, for a bookshelf that should be plentiful. To help with that bass, the S4000 packs a rear aero port whose tuning is probably around the 45-50 Hz range.
