The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it has dismantled a large transnational methamphetamine production network operating between Nigeria and Mexico, in what it described as its biggest laboratory bust to date, with arrests spanning a cartel boss, three Mexican nationals, and six Nigerian collaborators.

NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), disclosed this on Wednesday at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja, claiming operatives uncovered an industrial-scale clandestine meth lab hidden deep inside a forest in Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State.

According to the agency, the operation—carried out on 16 May 2026 by its Special Operations Unit—was based on months of intelligence and involved simultaneous raids in Ogun and Lagos States.

Officials said the main production site was located in Abidagba forest, where operatives allegedly met a fully functional methamphetamine “cooking” facility run by a Nigerian-Mexican syndicate.
