Matthew McConaughey has revealed that he once lived in Peru as part of a soul-searching mission.

Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey has opened up about a deeply personal travel experience that helped him escape the pressures of fame and reconnect with his identity.

Speaking on the “No Magic Pill” podcast with Blake Mycoskie, the 56-year-old actor revealed that he once travelled alone to Peru for 22 days after struggling with the overwhelming effects of stardom.

McConaughey said that the trip became a form of soul-searching after his rise to fame left him questioning what was real in his life.

“I needed to get my feet on the ground,” he explained.
