A man that was killed in Sydney in a five-person shooting thought to be linked to the 'underworld' has been identified as four others remain in hospital with injuries07:46, 20 May 2026A man killed in a five-person shooting labelled by police as an 'underworld attack' has been identified.Alai Ahio, 28, died in hospital after the alleged shooting on Tuesday night, May 19.Ahio, a former associate of Sydney-based rap group OneFour, sustained his injury while sat in the garage of a home in Canley Heights.There is no suggestion of wrongdoing by the men at the home, or by members of the group OneFour. Police were notified of gunshots at the home just before 8.20pm.At 8.30pm, two men, including Ahio and another man aged 32, visited Liverpool Hospital with multiple wounds. Ahio underwent surgery but later died.The 32-year-old remains in hospital in a serious condition with a neck injury.Two other men, aged 23 and 22, showed up to Fairfield Hospital in a serious condition around 10 minutes later. They have been transferred to different hospitals for treatment.The 23-year-old is being treated for a gunshot injury to his neck, and the 22-year-old is being treated for a shoulder injury.Roughly an hour later, a 19-year-old man arrived at Liverpool Hospital with injuries to his arm. He is in a stable condition.Detective Superintendent Craig Middleton said police believe two other men entered the Canley Vale home and the gunfire erupted shortly after.It is thought that those two men fled the scene in a white SUV.According to police, Ahio and the four wounded men were all known to each other.Police are investigating links to the underworld, particularly around the growing group known as the "coconut cartel", but no links have been confirmed yet.The force have set up a crime scene at a home in Canley heights where they believe the incident occurred.Two cars that transported the first four men to hospital were found at a Saint Johns Park address, where a second crime scene was established.Middleton said it is believed to have been a targeted attack and police were establishing measures to prevent any similar attacks in the next 48 hours.The motive for the attack is not yet clear."It's a very brazen, violent attack," Middleton said."We're obviously looking at some organised crime information, but it's very early days."Article continues belowOfficers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command – with assistance from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad – are investigating.Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
