The tale of Štefan Boleslav Roman, or Stephen B. Roman as he became later known, was full of grit. His ventures have left a lasting mark on both the country he came to call home as well as his original homeland.
Roman was born to a family of farmers on 17 April, 1921 in the village of Veľký Ruskov, or what is now Nový Ruskov in south-eastern Slovakia.
