Data centre developer Hut 8 said it has signed a lease for a planned Texas facility worth $9.8 billion (£7.2bn) over a 15-year period, in the latest indication of surging demand for infrastructure to power AI tools.
The lease with an unnamed major tech companies involves 352 megawatts of computing capacity, requiring 500 MW of utility capacity, Miami-based Hut 8 said.

The developer said it has signed an agreement for provision of up to 1 GW of power to the site, with power expected to be hooked up in the first quarter of next year.
