TikTok is introducing a paid subscription plan in the UK that will allow users to opt out of seeing ads – but users who don’t pay will no longer be able to opt out of having their data used for ad personalisation.

Starting this week the company is notifying users aged 18 and older of the upcoming subscription option, which will cost £3.99 a month.

Users can decide whether they want to adopt the plan by 11 November.

Personalised ads

After that date, users who continue to use the app for free will lose the option to remove ad personalisation.
