France’s Mistral AI is pitching its own technology as a European alternative to Anthropic’s Claude Mythos where it comes to detecting cyber-vulnerabilities in sensitive sectors such as banking and the military, and is reportedly in talks with European banks about deploying a model to find bugs.

Speaking at a hearing of the National Assembly in France on Tuesday, Mistral chief executive Arthur Mensch said it was imperative for domestic organisations to have “control” over AI.

“You can’t have the French military’s source code scanned by Mythos. That creates such an irreparable dependency that we absolutely must find solutions,” he said.
