Google sister company Waymo has said “routing behaviour” is responsible for reports of dozens of its automated vehicles flooding through a quiet Atlanta suburb, and said it would work on the issue.

Residents in the Buckhead neighbourhood in Atlanta filmed a long string of Waymo vehicles passing down Battleview Drive, entering a cul-de-sac, turning around, and driving back out again.

A local resident told news media that an estimated 50 cars passed through the area between 6 and 7 a.m. one day, while another resident said the behaviour had been seen in most of the cul-de-sacs in the area.
