Winger Robertson scored the only goal of the game when Brian Clough’s Forest side retained the European Cup in 1980, with a 1-0 win over Hamburg. The year before, he had famously delivered the cross from which Trevor Francis headed home the iconic winner in the final, against Malmo, when Forest won the trophy for the first time.Following his death, Marinakis labelled Robertson a “true legend of this great club, in every sense of the word.” The Greek shipping and media magnate added that the stand should be renamed: “In lasting recognition of his extraordinary contribution to our club, so that his legacy — and our great hero — will forever be remembered.”Robertson was also part of the Forest side that won the First and Second Division titles, two League Cups, the UEFA Super Cup and the 1978 Charity Shield. Across two spells with the club, Robertson made more than 500 appearances for Forest, scoring 95 goals.Robertson often spoke modestly of his pride at what he achieved at the City Ground under Clough. It is fitting that his name will now have a physical presence on the banks of the River Trent.
