Iconic Whale Mural In Dallas Painted Over For FIFA-Related Branding Ahead Of World CupA massive, iconic mural in downtown Dallas by the artist Wyland has been painted over to make way for World Cup branding, prompting anger in the community and a whole lot of finger pointing among those responsible for the decision. From 1999 until sometime last week, an 82-foot-high, 164-foot-long pod of whales adorned the side of the building at 505 N. Akard Street in downtown Dallas.Wyland told Fox4News he painted aquatic scenes in landlocked cities across the country as a means to draw attention to how metropolitan areas affect ecosystems downstream.Any claim Dallas or FIFA sought his permission before slathering it over is “a lie with a capital L,” he told the station. “They had all these walls. There’s so many great walls to paint. Pick a wall that’s not part of Dallas’ public history.”The North Texas Fifa World Cup Organizing Committee said in a statement it has “great respect for Wyland’s legacy,” and as such, decided to leave a small portion of the mural it had yet to obscure uncovered.“We look forward to unveiling a new piece that captures this current historical moment and reflects the energy, unity, and global spirit” surrounding World Cup 2026.“Is that supposed to make me feel better?” Wyland said in a separate interview with KERA news. “They destroyed like 80% of the mural, and they're going to paint something that has nothing to do with conservation, which is what the mural was intended for.”“They should be embarrassed.”Latest Live UpdatesSan Diego Mosque Shooters Met Online And Expressed 'Broad Hatred,' FBI SaysThe teenagers who killed three people at a San Diego mosque met online and shared a “broad hatred” toward different religions and races, authorities said Tuesday.Mark Remily of the FBI said during a news conference that authorities have uncovered writings by the suspects. While no plans have been finalized, Paramount leadership is reportedly considering pulling back on Weiss' oversight at "Evening News," "CBS Mornings," and "60 Minutes." Instead, her role would focus more on CBS's digital growth while still maintaining some editorial control across the company, Puck reported. A Paramount spokesperson denied these reports in a statement to Puck, saying: "Bari has the full support of Paramount and David Ellison as the editorial leader overseeing CBS News and 60 Minutes. Reports suggesting otherwise are inaccurate.”Prior to joining CBS, Weiss had worked as a writer and editor at The Free Press, which she founded in 2021 before selling the outlet to Paramount last year for roughly $150 million. "There are different ways to ask a question," Vance said to the reporter during Tuesday's White House press briefing. "You can just ask a question and try and get your answer or you could do a speech where you say, 'You know, Mr. Vice President, you're a terrible human being and so is the president and so is the entire cabinet,' and then I'm like, 'What's your question?' And then your question is, 'How dare you?' Come on, man. Have a little bit of objectivity in how you ask these questions."The reporter had told Vance that, "Americans, according to recent polling, are increasingly describing the president as 'corrupt'" for trading stocks and asked Vance how the administration can claim they are cleaning up fraud.Vance said Trump has "independent wealth advisers" who manage his money and that Trump wants to ban members of Congress from selling and trading stocks. Vance Is Concerned That No One Feels Bad For The Jan. 6 RiotersReporters asked Vice President JD Vance several times during his Tuesday press briefing about the newly established $1.776 billion “anti-weaponization fund” meant to compensate Americans who were supposedly unfairly prosecuted under former President Joe Biden. At one point, Vance reflected on the idea that the rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, do not inspire sympathy like others who have committed crimes.“There are people who have objectively committed heinous crimes, but the American media and the American legal academy has decided that even though they committed bad crimes, their sentence was disproportionate, they were mistreated in some way,” Vance said.“You know who never, ever gets an ounce of sympathy when it comes to that disproportionate sentencing is people who voted for Donald Trump and participated in the January 6th protests,” Vance said. The fund has been widely criticized due to the possibility that it could be used to pay the Trump supporters who wreaked havoc on the Capitol. JD Vance Responds To Pete Davidson Joke About Charlie Kirk: He 'Did Not Deserve' To DieVice President JD Vance responded to a question about the controversial joke comedian Pete Davidson made about the late far-right influencer and podcast Charlie Kirk during "The Roast of Kevin Hart.""Charlie was a very, very dear friend, but more importantly than that, Charlie was a father of two beautiful kids and he did not deserve to have all those moments with his kids, those moments with his beautiful wife taken from him in the way that that happened," Vance said at Tuesday's White House press briefing. During Netflix's "The Roast of Kevin Hart," which premiered more than a week ago, Davidson compared comedian Tony Hinchcliffe to Kirk, saying, “Tony reminds me of Charlie Kirk, in that he’s definitely been on camera letting a guy unload in his throat.” Vance went on to say that people with different politics should talk it out and not shoot one another.Vance Says Anyone — Even Hunter Biden — Can Apply For The 'Anti-Weaponization' FundVice President JD Vance said anyone can apply for the $1.7 billion "anti-weaponization fund," which aims to help people who "suffered" the "weaponization and lawfare" of Biden's administration. "Anybody can apply for it," Vance said at Tuesday's White House press briefing. "Republicans can apply for it. Democrats can apply for it. As you know, the president of the United States has pardoned a number of Democrats who he felt were actually subject to this lawfare. If Hunter Biden wants to apply for this particular fund, he is welcome to."After a reporter asked about people who stormed the U.S. Capitol and attacked police officers on Jan. 6, 2021, Vance said that those people have only been "accused" of attacking police. "We’re not trying to give money to anyone who attacked a police officer," Vance said. "... We do have people who were accused of attacking law enforcement officers … We’re going to evaluate these things on a case-by-case basis."Cornyn Responds To Trump Endorsement Of Paxton In Texas Senate RaceSen.
