TCL has announced new updates heading to its Google TV sets which deliver upgrades for Dolby Vision and Atmos, as well as fixing an issue with Disney+.
Confirmed to FlatPanelsHD, TCL says that a new update is rolling out to TCL 2025, 2024, and 2023-released Google TV sets powered by the Pentonic 700 chip. This includes many of TCL’s upper-end releases including the QM6K, QM7K, and QM8K models, among others. 2026 models already have this update built-in.
The v643 firmware update includes performance and bug fixes, of course, but also a few change updates.
On the Dolby side of things, Dolby Filmmaker Vision mode is now supported, replacing “Dolby Vision Dark.” Dolby Atmos FlexConnect is also getting wider support, including for the TCL Z100-SW subwoofer.
There’s also a fix specific to Disney+. Content that takes advantage of IMAX Enhanced DTS:X audio can now work properly on systems that also support Dolby Atmos, with users able to switch back and forth as needed.
