The Togolese government has announced a new visa-free policy allowing Africans holding valid passports to enter the country without visas for up to 30 days as part of efforts to deepen continental integration and boost regional cooperation.

The new policy, which took effect on Monday, May 18, 2026, was disclosed by Togo’s Minister of Security and Civil Protection, Calixte Madjoulba, in a statement issued on Tuesday.

According to the minister, the move aligns with the government’s broader agenda of promoting the free movement of people, strengthening trade relations among African countries, and positioning Togo as a major regional destination for commerce, culture, and investment.

Madjoulba said the initiative reflects the commitment of the Togolese authorities to African unity and economic openness.
