Two people were killed on Sunday morning after a truck crashed into a residential building in Maje community on the outskirts of Suleja, Niger State, triggering protests and a major traffic gridlock along the Suleja-Minna highway.

The victims, identified as Maryam Shuaibu and her 10-year-old grandson, died when the truck rammed into their home, while another girl from the family sustained injuries during the incident.

The accident sparked tension in the area as angry youths blocked the Suleja-Minna Road and another road leading to Dikko Junction, which connects the community to the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

A resident, Muhammad Badamasi, said the truck driver was travelling from the Minna axis towards Kaduna around 7am when he suddenly discovered brake failure.
