The Lagos State commissioner of environment, Tokunbo Wahab in post on X said the enforcement action was carried out on Monday, May 18, 2026, following allegations that the hotel used pumping machines to channel untreated wastewater into surrounding drains, creating what authorities described as environmental nuisance and offensive odour capable of endangering public health.
The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has sealed off BON Hotel over the alleged indiscriminate discharge of untreated wastewater into the environment and public drainage channels in the Lekki area of Lagos State.

According to the agency, the facility was shut down after officials discovered that untreated effluent from the premises was allegedly being discharged directly into the environment, contrary to environmental safety regulations guiding wastewater disposal in the state.
