NewsUK NewsMurderGran Ann Coll, 61, was found seriously injured at a flat on Newfield place in Rutherglen and sadly pronounced dead at the scene18:24, 18 May 2026Updated 18:25, 18 May 2026A woman has been convicted of the murder of a grandmother in Rutherglen, just outside Glasgow, days before Christmas.Clare Kilduff, 40, pleaded guilty at the High Court in Glasgow today, Monday May 18, and will be sentenced at a later date before the same court.Gran Ann Coll, 61, was found seriously injured at a flat on Newfield place in Rutherglen at around 12.45am on Friday, December, 22 of 2023, the Daily Record reported.Tragically she could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.Ann, originally from Donegal in Ireland, was well-known in the local community and was often seen walking her collie dog Lola around the area.Cops launched a massive hunt after her death with surveillance cameras and doorbell videos analysed by investigators as officers removed several doors and bags from properties.The last person believed to have spoken to Ann was her granddaughter but she was pictured on CCTV images captured inside a local shop the day before she died.Ann was seen entering the shop wearing a beige jacket and grey gloves in one of the CCTV images. Another captured the gran standing at the till in the shop.Ann's neighbour Clare Kilduff was eventually traced and arrested over a month later on Friday, February 2, and was charged with murder.Detective Superintendent Lynsey Watters said such violence will not be tolerated in local communities after Kilduff was convicted.Article continues belowShe said: “This was a violent and shocking attack which has been devastating for Ann’s family and friends.“While no outcome can truly ease the pain of their loss, we hope this conviction will bring some comfort to her loved ones as Kilduff faces the consequences of her actions.
