Guthrie, the 84 year old mother of NBC journalist Savannah Guthrie, vanished from her home on January 31, 2026 and was reported missing by her family on February 1, 2026 after authorities said she was taken against her will from her Tucson, Arizona home.Federal agents later released surveillance footage showing a masked man tampering with her doorbell camera overnight. No arrests have been made.Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, who is overseeing the investigation, confirmed he is no longer in direct contact with Guthrie’s family. Instead, communication is now managed through other investigators. Guthrie is the mother of Today show host Savannah Guthrie. “I personally am not,” Nanos told PEOPLE he is no longer in direct contact with the family.Referring to his detectives and the FBI, he added, “If they need the family for anything, they get in touch with them and the family. It works both ways.” “We text or, every now and then, a phone call,” he further told the news outlet. “But no, I've not even sat down with her face-to-face. She's got a lot on her plate. The FBI and my detectives and those, they've been talking with her face-to-face. She doesn't need to talk to me.”Savannah Guthrie and her family have pledged a $1 million reward for information that could lead to Nancy Guthrie’s recovery or an arrest.
